# Grail Bridge - Operator-Initiated Withdrawal (withdraw to Bitcoin)

This supports the user withdrawal on the back end.

In the operator-initiated withdrawal operation, an operator holding tokens will exchange them for some of the UTXOs locked on the bridge.

**Request Withdrawal**

1. The operator requests a withdrawal and specifies an amount and target address. The smart contract collects the token equivalent, selects a group of UTXOs that match the amount, and assigns those UTXOs to the operator's address.
2. Afterward, the smart contract state is committed to the Bitcoin network. The operator can use a zk-proof showing that the UTXOs have been assigned to them to transfer the funds on the Bitcoin network.
