# Bridge Agents - Operators

The Grail bridge requires agents called operators. 

Operators monitor the bridge operations and assist users with deposits and withdrawals. They constantly monitor both the Bitcoin and rollup networks and participate in defined bridging protocol steps. 

A minimum of two operators are required to keep the bridge protocol going, but any number can be supported.
